Monday 27 May A stroll around Stirling University Campus to view the Rhododendrums, and anything else that takes your fancy.
Monday June 3rd The Pineapple House, Dunmore house and park and Elphinstone Tower. This is a woodland and nature reserve with the buildings as added interest. It is near the Village of Airth. Access is by a rough, narrow potholed road of approximately a mile but this takes you to a parking area at the Pineapple building. From there around a 5 minute walk to the Pineapple passable with a mobility scooter. John and I spent an afternoon checking it out. Elphinstone Tower is roughly a 20 min walk on hard packed track. Negotiable with care on a mobility scooter. Hower its 5 mins through rough grass to get to it, although possible to get photographs from the path. There is a hard packed field edge that takes you to it also but this is steeper and again rough grass to cover. You can get photos from the field edge. We walked to Dunmore house but it is quite a walk. My suggestion would be to Photograph the Pineapple then take the cars to the main road and come up the farm track. Access is blocked by gates but I spoke to the girl in the cottage and explained what we were doing so she gave me her phone number and said they would unlatch the gates. This would enable cars to get up to the area and park. there are two grand houses/ buildings and old barns and stables in a derelict and semi derelict state. Nature is taking over. However I thought this was an intersting area for photos. Access is possible with a mobility scooter. I will put more info on the dark room page as when I tried to do this I lost what I had written. Also on this occasion, due to restrictions I would suggest we take as few cars as possible.
Monday June the 10th Cammo nature reserve, Barnton. I am on holiday so wont be able to attend personally .Woodland, water tower, old walled gardens, stables and derelict buildings. There is a North and South Car Park. The North is the one I have used but it is smaller, although closer to the water tower. There are hard pathways suitable for a mobility scooter. I will put more info in the Dark Room
Monday June 17th Kinneill House with access to the Boness shore. Large park area with Kinneill house and other buildings on the estate including part of the Antonine wall. Many trails and pathways and historical interest and wildlife, within the parkland and foreshore. Also suitable in most places for a mobility scooter.
Monday June 24th AMENDMENT TO THIS OUTING Arrangements being made by Peter Lawson on an outdoor portrait shoot with models at CAMPSRIDGE POND MURIESTON. Arrangements are also being made to have access to Crofthead in case of inclement weather.
Monday July 1st AMENDMENT TO THIS OUTING
This outing is AMENDED to the ancient historical PRECEPTORY of TORPHICHEN. One of the caretakers of this ancient building has kindly agreed to give us access in the evening so that we can get inside the building. I thought a wee donation from each of us would be a nice gesture . Normally access is limited to the weekends.
The walk, talk and shoot along the Carron Shore suggested by Graham Young, nature and wildlife reserve will now be moved to JULY 15TH
Monday 8th July BRING ALONG A DOGGY This has been suggested by Clare Harte and we will attempt some action and portrait shots of any dogs brought along for the occasion.
